DJ Swearinger Sr And Friends Give Back to South Carolina Community With Celebrity Basketball Game

We enjoyed working with DJ Swearinger, the team and the guys on the weekend, as it was great to see the smiles on the kids from The Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands!

Fellow South Carolina natives Jadeveon Clowney, Stephon Gilmore, Pharoh Cooper, Mike Davis, and Tori Gurley re-connected on the weekend at Swearinger’s Annual Celebrity Basketball Game to raise money for The Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands.

It was friendly rivalry among new and old friends last Saturday, April 6 (2019) as DJ Swearinger Sr called upon his buddies to play a game of basketball and give back to his local community in South Carolina. It was Swearinger’s third annual game held at this year at the Carolina Volleyball Center – South Carolina Alumni versus fellow NFL greats. The day was full of laughs with the pro-athletes signing autographs, meeting the kids and taking pictures.

“When my friends and I were in college, we never had NFL players to come back and show love at Carolina. Once we got into the NFL, we always said we wanted to do something to bring NFL players back to South Carolina so we could give back to our community and bring smiles to the kids’ faces. That’s why I started my annual celebrity charity basketball game,” shared DJ Swearinger Sr.

“People did the same for us and these kids look up to us. For him to do a game like this and give back, it is great,” Jadeveon Clowney said. “Good to see some of these old guys. I haven’t seen some of these guys in so long. I just want to make sure I stay connected to these guys. We all have gone our separate ways in life, but it is always fun to get back together,” he shared.

DJ Swearinger Sr recently founded his not-for-profit, 2 Spoonz Foundation, with the aim to give back to under-privileged kids and make a positive impact within his community. Last year he sponsored 50 kids from The Boys & Girls Club and 25 kids for the Big Brother/Big Sister program. He is excited to expand on his ability to help more children by way of his foundation.

“Community and giving back is everything to me. If I can help change their lives and inspire them that anything is possible, then I know I have done my job,” Swearinger Sr said.
